Amaya Papaya offers eclectic classes and activities for children and parents to learn, grow and create community. These classes are taught by qualified instructors and offer families unique experiences to stimulate creativity, awareness and fun.

This course covers basic first aid for infants, children and adults. Students will learn how to treat minor conditions and how to properly care for emergency conditions while awaiting help. Completion of this course provides a three year certification through the American Safety and Health Institute. It is appropriate for parents, grandparents, caregivers, day care workers, teachers, and older teens.
This is a one-time, 3 hour class.

We will be making Clay Butterflies. At the workshop, you will receive a “B is for Butterfly” t-shirt or tank, and your child will make an art project for the price of $16 for members and $18 for non-members. When you are caring for a child, you are taking care of a parent(s) most prized possession. Everything in their home and your own home can be replaced— everything, that is, except a child”- The American Safety and Health Institute

CPR certification will be through the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI). The classification of this certification is "CPR and AED for the Community and Workplace". It applies to both lay rescuers (i.e. parents) or healthcare professionals. Persons being required to have CPR certification can check with their intitution if that would be acceptable. Our curriculum will cover adult, child, and infant CPR and use of automated defibrilators. We will also cover foreign body airway obstruction (heimlich maneuver) for adults, children and infants. Students will learn how to provide one and two rescuer CPR and the steps for handling cardiac and respiratory emergencies.

Have you ever finished a book and just wanted to talk about it? “Novel Ideas” is the book club for the reader in you. Come meet other moms and dads like yourself who have not forgotten, 'the more places you’ll go' when you read a great book! You don't need to be a voracious reader or have read the classics to enjoy “Novel Ideas.” So if you want to laugh, share stories and make new friends while your little ones do the same, join us the third Thursday of every month.

This class is designed to help foster your child’s development socially, cognitively, physically and emotionally using Developmentally Appropriate Practices. This class will help prepare your child for preschool and give you tips on things you can do at home to encourage their progress. Activities will include art, science, literacy, music and movement and reading. This may be called a “class” but this will be a very relaxed environment just as Amaya Papaya is where your child can choose their participation level and have fun!
Mrs. Aisha Bailey has over eight years of experience as a child care provider for U.S. Air Force Child Development Centers. During her career, Aisha served as lead child care provider in classrooms comprised of either pre-toddlers, toddlers, or preschool age children. She has earned over 60 credits towards her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and plans to return to college in the Fall 2010 semester. Aisha is an active member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and has only worked in NAEYC accredited Child Development Centers. NAEYC accredited programs have demonstrated that they provide a safe and healthy environment for children, have teachers who are well trained, have access to excellent teaching materials, and work with a curriculum that is appropriately challenging and developmentally sound.
